==Details== 
 Applications are invited for the post of Post Doctoral Research Fellow at University College Dublin’s School of Information and Communication Studies on the CogSIS Project. The aim of the project is to understand the role of speech synthesis on user perceptions and language choices in speech interface interaction. The project is a collaboration between University College Dublin and Trinity College Dublin, funded by the Irish Research Council. The successful candidate will work closely with Dr Benjamin R. Cowan (UCD) & Dr Joao Cabral (Trinity College Dublin), conducting research to identify how design choices, in particular around accent and expressivity, affect user perceptions and behaviour in interaction. The postholder will be expected to contribute to the development of the research and the dissemination of the work in terms of publication and presentation in leading venues. The researcher will be based in UCD but will have visiting academic status at TCD for the length of the project. 

The post is available to start from 15th Feb 2017 or as soon as possible thereafter. 

==Person Specifics== 
 Applicants should have obtained or be close to completion of a PhD in a relevant subject (e.g. Human–Computer Interaction, speech technology, cognitive psychology, experimental psychology, psycholinguistics and/or related discipline). Ideal candidates will have a strong background in quantitative research methods and statistics, experiment design and/or speech synthesis research. Applicants should have demonstrated potential for research excellence (e.g., publication track record in international journals and conferences) and a desire to publish in leading venues in their field. They will also have programming and technical skills (Python, R). Applicants should also have demonstrated strong self motivation and an ability to work independently. The ideal candidate should have a desire to collaborate across disciplines and an ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary research team.
